Why I still HATE F***N Saturdays

So Jeremy, how's your day going?
*rubs his face in frustration* Just dandy.

We are still sitting here with half the group out of one, and half the group of another.

F***

This doesn't look good.

I vote Jeremy to do something

...

GLOBAL WARMING

I would like to know who believes that Global Warming is occurring for either way that it's been occuring over since the time the earth was created, since after our "ice age" or it's just a recent "thing"...

Or do you not believe in Global Warming?

I do - I do agree with those it's always been around, I also agree, we has human fiends speed the process up.

One thing I must say - just because the name has warming doesn't mean EVERYWHERE in the world will get hotter...

Just think - Ice burgs are melting... so colder waters are flowing here... so it rains more and it's colder right?

Sure do agree with that!
Below I have labeled that as Proof 1
Pictures of our sad looking dock is Proof 2 - seriously the original dock is 3 feet under the water, we keep trying the build on top of it :( it's so sad looking... we fixed it though
Proof 3 and 4 coming soon...

Why I hate Saturdays.

Saturdays have always been the worst day ever... for me...

Most people enjoy the weekend. I guess because they work Mon- Fri and then have the "weekend" off. That's when my week starts, Saturday. I must say... We have been up here for months now, and not one Saturday has ran smooth.

Here we sit (with a bunch of wonderful guys) waiting for the plane... AGAIN.
Not one Saturday has it been smooth change over, the weather has not been kind, or everyone in high spirits. *sigh*

If it's not the weather being too rainy, celing too low, not enough visibility, wrong winds, it has been too hot and humid to get the plane up. (Proof 1: Global Warming)

<3 Sigtyr <3

Jeremy and I have a new pet. A new pet, Bald Eagle. We have named him Sigtyr, Siggy for short.
He sits on fish gut island (now named Ilse of Sigtyr). He's injured somehow. We assume a broken wing. Not knowing what to really do to help him, instead of dumping the fish guts we throw a few in his direction, hoping he will eat them. I hope that he will get used to us coming and not hide so we can snap a few photos of our fine feathered friend. I can't believe how huge these things really are. Seriously... HUGE

The Ants Go Marching... part II

So, I obidently grabbed the camera. Here's the first picture snagged. Can you seriously believe this is saw dust produced by ANTS!!!!
So they use some of the saw dust to excerete in. It goes hard and then they tunnel in it again. This is also stored for ant eggs. I cannot describe to you HOW DISGUSTING ANT EGGS ARE!!!!

Our master plan was to tear down the wall and vacuum the bastards up. WOW they are fast. It was like a virtual reality game. HERE There EVERYWHERE the ants were grabbing their egg sacks and trying to run in every direction. Needless to say, we got perfect score. NONE escaped.

Here lies once, a 2x4 stud. Now remains hollow ant holes...

LOOK at how many there were... bow your head in silence. Genocide.
Sad... but it had to be done...
"Scrunch!"
What is that sound.... oh no....

THE ANTS GO MARCHING

Or do they....

Okay, so mid summer, I am trying to sleep, but all I hear is this 'scrunch! scrunch! scrunch!' sound. It's almost like something is trying to eat a piece of wood. Oh, just my luck, something is.

"Jeremy, do you hear that?"

"Don't freak out, it's nothing go back to sleep!"

"But, Jer, I can't it's creeping me out - what is it??"

"It's just carpenter ants... you know the ones with the wings we randomly see at the beginning of summer..."

"Oooooo I hate those things, why are they here, we have to get them out or I WILL GO HOME!!!! I do not like them in my home!!!!!!"

"We have tried a bunch of ant killer stuff, but it has yet to work, you know that!!!!"

I sigh, a hopeless sigh, really. I think by then I was too tired to even care and fell asleep

That's when it started....

The following week was pretty hectic, I put up with the munching sounds of those horrid black ants at the back of my mind. Well, until I heard them every night. Mind you the rain and the wind were so fierce, I could barely hear them munching away on the foundation... but it was there... I know it was...

Finally the week arrived that we had no guests in camp. What was the first thing we did?
Besides play WoW that is...

Well Jeremy tore down the wall where the main "Scrunch! Scrunch! Scrunch!" came from.

"OOOOOOOOOOOOOO M GGGGGGG, EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!"

"By Odin's Beard!!! JES!!! Get the camera! This is unbelievable!"

T.B.C
Stay tuned for the next episode of "THE ANTSSSSSSSSSssss!" (and pictures of course!)

I am in love with Bailey's Smart Wool Socks

This is Abbi and Bryn fighting over Ducky Mc Duckerson. I am surprized he is still in one piece. The two girls are in the lodge at Makoop Lake. This is a beautiful sunset at Makoop. It it honestly the only nice night we have had. Bryn and Jeremy are doing the night walk around the camp to make sure everything is hunky dory. (Yes, I just used that term - Tony it is to annoy you from afar)

Okay, so I totally apologize for not blogging more often.

This has been a really really really busy summer...

*sigh*

Now down to the excellent bitching ... oh Imean blogging....

Last week we had a FANTASTIC group in from Iowa and Minnesota.

LOVED THEM. They were here last year and the year before. These guys are such a pleasure to have on this island.

While they were here we had a lovely visit from MNR (Ministry of natural resources - for those of you who don't know). Yes, they flew in a lovely turbo beaver and landed before each boat and asked for licences... of course, one guest didn't have his on him... oh man... at least the officer was good about that. The guests proceeded to "American Double - Speak" (that's what we call it when our guests try and confuse us Canadians). Apparently it worked, and they had successfully confused the poor guy. When he came to the camp, his last stop he was in good spirits and thought our guests quite hilarious. I always wonder where some of our tax dollars go, now you know! I understand, we need to keep our water clean, our fish plentiful and our tourism flourishing (ESPECIALLY NOW!!!)

Last Saturday, we were sad to see our guests go. They will be back next year. They were truly great dinner guests.

Just the past week, we had no guests in camp - no so good for camp but an alright break. You would think that we would have time to fish - but NO! What did we do?

Well, let's just say CARPENTER ANT MASSACRE.... I'll post that blog tomorrow... until then

peace

The pictures are not in order... so here is the after picture of me holding my big catch.... the one below is the before picture unsure of how this feels. It wasn't that bad. She was pretty good and she held still... but she wouldn't show her fins :( she was a big one - the biggest walleye of the evening.

This is Pickle... yup that's her... and below this is the sunset from our Pickle home.

Hey! So as promised here is the picture of the snow.... damn it was cold that first week too - I didn't bring my winter jacket, luckily I had brought some hat, mits and scarf....

Blackfly Massacre

HA HA no, I did not find out who won the fight. I am pretty sure they both went to court and are either in jail or on bail right now... seems to be the case....
Okay. So I arrived at the other camp.... on Wednesday night. Makoop. Where this whole out post camp fiasco started. When we got off the plane, we were bombarded - BOMBARDED - with blackflies. You see, there aren't any at North Caribou - but here... OMG! The poor white dogs were stained RED with their own blood. It is disgusting. Luckily at this camp I don't have to go outdoors too much - which is a shame because it is soooooo beautiful here.

This week is pretty busy for me because we have a large group here and Jeremy and I are training others to run a camp. It's pretty hard to get some alone time to tend to facebook and the blog. BUT next week... there are smaller groups and the people we are training have more responsibility.

After next week, we fly out back to the other camp, North Caribou - land of no bugs - well there are but for some reason they don't really bite. Unless you are fishing in the swampy area - then there are tonnes.

So I went fishing a few weeks back and I caught a 28" Walleye. That's a huge fish. I'll have to post a picture of that! You should all be proud.

Abbi is growing like a weed. SHE IS HUGE. Well for a 5 mo. old puppy that is.

Well, duty calls, I will come and post pics soon!

The Update

Hey ya'll!

So what an adventure. I finally made it to Thunder Bay, Dryden, Pickle, then back to Dryden, then off to Pickle again tomorrow... then hopefully in a few days up to camp.

Bailey has been with me the past week with all that traveling. Jeremy and I just dropped her off in Ignace and made it back to Dryden for Rob's (Jeremy's dad) birthday dinner.

Bailey finally got to meet all the dogs! Yes, 4 all together. Well, plus, Gracie. We took care of her too. DOG WEEK! YAY for cute dogs.

Okay, so now it's been another week since I have written that.
I have now made it back to Pickle and have been working at the B&B and other miscellaneous jobs for my Auntie Lynn and Uncle Bernie.

We were scheduled to fly into the camp today - now with the guests - but there is still ice on the lake... we are hoping tomorrow. The winds are very high today - but it is also SNOWING - yes May 30th and it's snowing.

Pickle is Pickle. The most fascinating thing I have seen is.....

Katie and I were driving by the liquor/community hall/postoffice/grocery store the other day (well Thursday because Friday was court day.... t.c.l) and we saw two men fighting - HARDCORE fighting like UFC styles... but more Native style - they were up throwing punches then down rolling on the gravel!!!! It was insane - we watched for 5 min and it was still going on... random guys would jump in and fight too.

The grossest thing I have seen....

ALL the dogs eating human poo. Yes you heard me. That was DISGUSTING.

The cutest thing I have seen....

Abbi playing with Becky's kids.

Most annoying thing about Pickle....

IT IS LIGHT OUT AT 330am - so much for sleeping in.

Well, that's it for now... pretty boring. I'll post pics and more stories when I get into camp!
